Without hesitation. After months in the red, hot desert center of Australia, I\u2019ve landed <\/span>in Hobart<\/span> on <\/span>a cold, rainy, and windy night. <\/span>The fresh air<\/span>,<\/span> which I\u2019d already forgotten existed, had woken me up after traveling all day to this remote island.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534768281059{padding-top: 58px !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1534768398573{padding-right: 6px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”8518″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1579653953808{padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

\n\t``After the dangerous Alice Springs, authentic Tasmania is exactly what I need at the end of the year.``<\/h2>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Strangers, three bus drivers and the kind people <\/span>who,<\/span> due to flight delay, <\/span>waited for me <\/span>until midnight <\/span>with dinner, had shown me that I am somewhere where I would feel nice. Where I would be happy, relaxed, content, and most of all: <\/span>S<\/span>afe. After the dangerous Alice Springs, authentic Tasmania is exactly what I need at the end of the year. I have something that had taken me over. I have nature and high views, covered with greenery. Does it remind <\/span>m<\/span>e of Slovenia? The coast I\u2019ve been walking along reminds me, though distantly but nonetheless, of the one in Slovenia.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I\u2019ve been here for about a day and I already feel relaxed<\/span>,<\/span> mainly calm. Satisfied. The coast I\u2019ve been walking along reminds me, though distantly but nonetheless, of the one in Slovenia. For a moment I am transported to the Moon Bay, whe<\/span>re<\/span> I walk along the stony beach<\/span> alone<\/span>, with the wind rolling on the rocks. In a few moments, I am in <\/span>Ankaran<\/span>, walking on seashells, which the ocean had washed upon the shore, <\/span>where <\/span>mighty, sharp rocks poke through the water, creating two beautiful, stone islands, <\/span>ruled by<\/span> seagulls<\/span>;<\/span> s<\/span>eagulls of different kinds, some similar to ours, some completely black, others colorful.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534768281059{padding-top: 58px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1534768405928{padding-left: 6px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”8515″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1579653869285{padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

\n\t``In a few moments, I am in Ankaran...``<\/h2>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534771917857{padding-top: 10px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]T<\/span>hen I realize these are the first parts of Tasmania that explorers have discovered. The first moment when I fell in love with this island, I <\/span>discovered<\/span>,<\/span> in Hobart, <\/span>a<\/span>bout whom one of the greatest explorers had written about. He was a<\/span> biologist, geologist, a mighty man with an even bigger influence, Charles Darwin. I met him years ago on the Galapagos Islands. \n\tView of Hobart from Mount Wellington<\/h2>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534771917857{padding-top: 10px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]On Friday, 5 February 1836, HMS Beagle with the naturalist Charles Darwin aboard came to anchor in Sullivans Cove. For the first time, when he saw Mount Wellington, <\/span>a mounta<\/span>in which can b<\/span>e seen from any part of the city, he <\/span>described it as \u201c\u2026 of little picturesque beauty\u201d and was not immediately impressed by what he could see of the Hobart Town.
