We\u2019ve been coordinating days with the weather, hours with the sun, paths with the rain, so we could get the most out of our visit. <\/span>See the most and walk the most. We\u2019ve finally woken up to a wonderful day and we had to take advantage of that. <\/span>Including <\/span>the sunset. Of course, I had to climb the highest peak in the park.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”9px”][vc_column_text]It was worth it, not just for the views above the foggy, mystical peaks, but for the wild nature that allowed us to be seen. We were the only ones there. There was no one around for miles. It wasn\u2019t a tourist spot, naturally, as you have to climb a steep hill to the top. You can\u2019t drive there. I don\u2019t have any prejudice, but if a spot isn\u2019t accessible by car, it has fewer <\/span>visitors<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534768281059{padding-top: 58px !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1534768398573{padding-right: 6px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”9048″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1584007533245{padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

\n\tGrampians Park<\/h2>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Solitude. Quiet. Warm wind. The last sun rays. Perfect time for dinner. We were just underneath the peak. Along the winding road, we watched the dry bushes that had overgrown the hill. Rocks. Thorns. Two adventurers that were being pulled upwards. Between the bushes. Why should <\/span>w<\/span>e walk along the road? Every now and then, something rustled. Usually, a wallaby sprang up: a marsupial, which resembles a kangaroo. That informative turn brought us to a waiting snake.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534765729380{padding-top: 38px !important;padding-bottom: 36px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Judging by the size of the lizard it had treated itself<\/span> to<\/span> <\/span>for<\/span><\/span> dinner, this brown snake was a <\/span>teen<\/span>ager.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The big one. Long. Thick. It didn\u2019t slither away when it noticed us. We interrupted her during her meal. I suspect<\/span> it had waited long before luring a large lizard into <\/span>its<\/span> jaw. It didn\u2019t let <\/span>itself to<\/span> be <\/span>bothered<\/span>. Illuminated by the sun, it calmly posed while swallowing <\/span>the<\/span> poor prey. I felt sorry for it; it hung so limply from the snake\u2019s jaw. One of the most venomous snakes in the world. <\/span>The one that\u2019s responsible for more than half of snake bites in Australia. Causing death in more than 60% of cases. If not properly treated, it can kill a human in less than 30 minutes. It\u2019s adaptable, so it can successfully spread across the country, its numbers <\/span>are <\/span>growing by the year. It<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s not surprising we\u2019ve managed to see it in a more secluded town. Her favorite meal was supposed to be rodents. Nothing dangerous, nothing venomous had crossed my path. Except for that little black snake (link) on my second day in Cairns. Even though I\u2019m spending most of my time outdoors, venomous snakes and other reptiles managed to successfully hide from me. I guess I\u2019m catching up in the last months.
