Let it awake<\/span>n<\/span> what no one has awoken within you<\/span> before<\/span>. Nothing is forever, everything changes. So let every feeling, every experience, every emotion give you exactly what you need. Something new. Something different. Let that sense awake<\/span>n<\/span>, th<\/span>e one that\u2019s<\/span> going to wake you from a deep sleep. Accept yourself and everything that surrounds you, everyone that comes your way.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”9px”][vc_column_text]Accept change<\/span>s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s only a fraction of what I\u2019ve learned on my 10-day vipassana meditation. In a time when I didn\u2019t think anymore, just went with the flow and let it take me where it <\/span>had to<\/span>. When I <\/span>returned<\/span> to Cairns<\/span>,<\/span> after ten days of complete silence, natural silence, I made a decision. I accepted the fact that I\u2019m not going to stay here. That I won\u2019t insist on my original plan. I took all the moldy clothes that waited for me in an old, beautiful, dark-wood wardrobe and <\/span>threw them in the washer, then started arranging the remaining<\/span> ones<\/span>. I bought the ticket and let my roommate know I was leaving. Onward. Into the unknown. <\/span>Where I said I wouldn\u2019t go.<\/span> To being a waitress<\/span>. <\/span>Why? Because I\u2019ve been given an opportunity. Because I could. Because I had to. After two<\/span> months of traveling, looking for a job and enjoying every moment, the savings were gone.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”9px”][vc_column_text]Unknown friends<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I used those few dollars I had earned by cleaning apartments<\/span> for a flight to my Brisbane<\/span>, where a friend picked me up at the airport. I don\u2019t actually know him, but he looks<\/span> kind and<\/span> trustworthy. He\u2019s Slovenian. He knows how I feel, he knows how much it means to me that someone is willing to open a door for new opportunities. He offered me help and I accepted it. Before meditati<\/span>ng<\/span> in the beautiful village of Pomona, I would never<\/span> have<\/span> done that. Accepting help? Me? Never. I can do it on my own. As my family would say: \u201cShe goes to sleep banging her head against a brick wall.\u201d This is (was) me. Why would I accept help if I kn<\/span>ew<\/span> I d<\/span>idn\u2019t<\/span> need it? When you learn how to take a deep breath, close your eyes, feel every beath on your skin, every tingling caused by your surroundings, you learn how to accept that too.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534765729380{padding-top: 38px !important;padding-bottom: 36px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Accepting <\/span>help<\/span>? Me? Never. I can do it on my own.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Once I had washed all my clothes, said goodbye to all my friend<\/span>s<\/span> who I\u2019ve gotten to know in an otherwise lovely Cairns, I realized that everything<\/span> I packed<\/span> won\u2019t fit in<\/span>to<\/span> my lovely, turquoise backpack. A soldier offered me <\/span>help<\/span>. <\/span>The one that fought in Afghanistan and is, at my age, retired due to disability. <\/span>I took it. Again. <\/span>\u201cOne can tell that you haven\u2019t been in the army,\u201d he pronounced when I came over to him with my backpack and three bags of clothes. We folded intensely for three hours. A piece of clothing after a piece of clothing. From the largest to the smallest. If I had done it on my own, it would have taken forever. They enjoy their comfort zones. They don\u2019t go where the unexpected awaits them. <\/span>Who<\/span> follow fixed patterns that lead <\/span>nowhere.<\/span> Stay. Persist. Nothing happens overnight. I know, but why shouldn\u2019t I persist in finding a better path?
