[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n\n\tI<\/span>made up my mind<\/span> as<\/span> I walked from <\/span>Portoro\u017e<\/span> to <\/span>Savudrija<\/span>.<\/span> When <\/span>crossing<\/span> the <\/span>Slovenia<\/span>n<\/span>-Croatia<\/span>n<\/span> border<\/span>, I decided to take the last train. Not back to Slovenia, but far <\/span>far<\/span> away, <\/span>to D<\/span>own <\/span>U<\/span>nder, to Australia.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”9px”][vc_column_text]It ha<\/span>s<\/span> been almost three months since I boarde<\/span>d<\/span> the pl<\/span>ane<\/span> and <\/span>set out<\/span> into the unknown. Alone. Without a plan, which I had grown so accustomed to always have. Just once in a lifetime. Only once, you get to seize <\/span>the opportunity<\/span> to <\/span>work, travel and explore freely, yet absolutely legally. In <\/span>a<\/span> promised land, where <\/span>it<\/span> is always warm, <\/span>where<\/span> milk and honey<\/span> flow<\/span>, where people really enjoy their lives.<\/span> I<\/span> had<\/span> set <\/span>off on the journey <\/span>holding<\/span> such an impression<\/span> in my mind<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”9px”][vc_column_text]I stopped in Singapore for a few days and <\/span>o<\/span>n Bali for a week, among other things, to cope with the then nine-hour time difference. When the day <\/span>merely begins <\/span>in Slovenia, it <\/span>slowly comes to an end <\/span>here. Especially now, in winter, when the days are a little shorter and the sun dips into the ocean at about 5 pm.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534768281059{padding-top: 58px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1534768398573{padding-right: 6px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”8591″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1580112651264{padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

\n\tTropical Queensland<\/h2>[\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1534768405928{padding-left: 6px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”8592″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1580112768219{padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

\n\tBotanical Park in Cairns<\/h2>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Tropic Queensland, as they call the <\/span>north-eastern<\/span> part of the island, was the place where my adventure and <\/span>the leap into the unknown <\/span>began<\/span>. Blue skies and the <\/span>shining <\/span>sun, endless sandy beaches, the Great Barrier Reef, hours and hours of diving and myriad mosquitos. This is what I had expected. And, last but not least, a dream job<\/span> that<\/span> I would be offered every step of the way.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”9px”][vc_column_text]I was thrilled to finally be here. In <\/span>the <\/span>country<\/span> with no stress,<\/span> of laid-back sitting under palm trees, carefree beach walks, and beautiful waterfalls in the rainforest. Cairns is a slowly developing city thanks to easy access to the Great Barrier Reef. I like it.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534765729380{padding-top: 38px !important;padding-bottom: 36px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

It is a small city, with no skyscrapers, unnecessary shopping malls,<\/p>\n

no concrete jungle.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It is<\/span> a small city<\/span>, with no skyscrapers, unnecessary shopping malls, <\/span>no<\/span> concrete jungle. Surrounded by green hills, mangroves and blu<\/span>e<\/span> skies. Instead of pigeons, white cockatoos with yellow crests and colourful parrots dominate the skies. At <\/span>dusk,<\/span> the <\/span>birds sing their songs. <\/span>The c<\/span>uckoos remind us <\/span>that <\/span>they are still the loudest<\/span>. Although greater in numbers, the meek crickets stand no chance, <\/span>futilely <\/span>chirping <\/span>in the hot night without a breeze. Looking at th<\/span>e<\/span>s<\/span>e<\/span> natural <\/span>wonders<\/span>, everyone <\/span>will surely feel <\/span>like embarking on a journey.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534768281059{padding-top: 58px !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1534768398573{padding-right: 6px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”8590″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1580112876110{padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

\n\tPast waterfalls and rocky pools created by rivers.<\/h2>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534771917857{padding-top: 10px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text] Past waterfalls and rocky pools created by rivers meandering their way <\/span>down <\/span>to the valley, past lakes where crocodiles thrive. <\/span>When <\/span>one<\/span> embark<\/span>s<\/span> on a journey, <\/span>one is <\/span>warned of countless <\/span>perils <\/span>lurking around Queensland.<\/span> Something venomous or dangerous.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534768281059{padding-top: 58px !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1534768398573{padding-right: 6px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”8588″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1580112865109{padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

\n\tTropical beaches around Cairns<\/h2>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534771917857{padding-top: 10px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]One<\/span> may encounter a venomous snake, get tangled in thorny branches of a <\/span>toxic <\/span>tree, or find yourself in a giant spider web. Yet <\/span>one<\/span> say<\/span>s<\/span>: \u201cNot me. I <\/span>will not meet them<\/span>\u201d. The next<\/span> day<\/span>, a black snake appeared <\/span>in front<\/span> of my house. <\/span>Was<\/span> it venomous?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
