To live. To the fullest. With every breath. Every second. To experience what one would regret having missed. This ambition drove me towards my new goal. To visit Nepal and trek the magnificent mountains of the Himalayas.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From the unspoken desire to visit Nepal and Tibet to the interview that has had a profound impact on my career as a journalist. As they say: in the right place at the right time. An interview with Viki Gro\u0161elj about the anniversary expedition to Nepal. To celebrate one of the greatest achievements of mountaineering in the Himalayas: the 40<\/span>th<\/span> anniversary of the first Slovenian ascent to an eight-thousander. Initially, I reported about the expedition, the next moment I joined it.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”9px”][vc_column_text]And just like that I <\/span>went<\/span> on a then<\/span> still<\/span> business trip to Nepal. It was no ordinary trip. <\/span>Not at all<\/span>. I <\/span>was <\/span>a reporter for Planet<\/span> TV in Nepal<\/span>. Before <\/span>I left<\/span>, I <\/span>had been <\/span>asked <\/span>at least five times: \u201cHow will you <\/span>survive a <\/span>month among <\/span>pensioners<\/span>?\u201d Easier than with any other group. <\/span>That<\/span> was one of the most beautiful experiences. Not <\/span>only<\/span> because of the eight-<\/span>thousanders<\/span>, where I could breathe freely despite the <\/span>breath-taking views<\/span>. Mostly because of the people I <\/span>had <\/span>met. Those <\/span>I<\/span> met along the way and those who joined me <\/span>on <\/span>the journey.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”9px”][vc_column_text]So many stories, so many difficult moments and so much motivation <\/span>among<\/span> these people<\/span>!<\/span> What <\/span>pensioners<\/span>?! They have more energy than my <\/span>colleagues do<\/span>. <\/span>When I heard their stories <\/span>about<\/span> conquering the mountain peaks, I experienced them again, so vividly were they describing them as we walked through picturesque valleys. <\/span>Joy. Tears. Happiness. Death. Now, they can talk about all <\/span>of <\/span>this <\/span>without hesitation. Sometimes with <\/span>some aftertaste<\/span>. Sometimes with tears in their eyes. Sometimes with a group hug. For they are people who feel.
