It is hard to say Australians <\/span>because<\/span> there are really <\/span>a lot of <\/span>immigrants. “Nobod<\/span>y says: <\/span>H<\/span>ave a good time<\/span>. Enjoy<\/span>.<\/span>” <\/span>Everywhere you look, there might be something dangerous. Yet that never scared me<\/span>, not even<\/span> for a moment. Like most things in life. Until one day I walked down a colourful<\/span>ly<\/span> paved <\/span>path<\/span> only to find <\/span>a <\/span>met<\/span>re<\/span> long black snake, that <\/span>w<\/span>ould not be bothered. If it had a yellow belly, it w<\/span>ould have been<\/span> extremely venomous. <\/span>It was dark<\/span> outside<\/span>,<\/span> so <\/span>who would know. I <\/span>just<\/span> remember slamming the door. After <\/span>deciding<\/span> to travel <\/span>so<\/span> far away, one is always ready for \u2026 a new adventure, change, adaptation, information. One has to be. <\/span>Otherwise,<\/span> one does not get far, one is not happy and one does not enjoy discovering new secrets that <\/span>lie<\/span> along the way. Th<\/span>at<\/span> is one of <\/span>the little<\/span> things I came here<\/span> to learn. To accept. Not to expec<\/span>t. To breathe in. To simply enjoy myself. Especially when I realised that for <\/span>a <\/span>while,<\/span> I <\/span>would <\/span>not be doing what I want<\/span>ed<\/span>, kn<\/span>e<\/span>w and had mastered. When I realised that I <\/span>was<\/span> competing against youngsters<\/span> who <\/span>would settle for chicken feed<\/span>. All they wanted was some company <\/span>while<\/span> drinking in the <\/span>evening<\/span> by the modest pool in the <\/span>noisiest<\/span> hostel in the town. When I realised<\/span> that<\/span> I had to leave my comfort zone<\/span>, which<\/span> I had so painstakingly built. <\/span>The most common question, going through my head in the first month, was very simple: \u201cWhy am I doing <\/span>this<\/span>?\u201d Surely, the easiest thing to do would be to buy a plane ticket and go back to the comfort zone of my green Slovenia.<\/span> But I had not made it th<\/span>is<\/span> far to <\/span>find<\/span> out that I <\/span>was<\/span> no longer 20 and that I expect<\/span>ed<\/span> more from life.
